Riley’s Parade thanks Warwick firefighters after volunteers recover memorial picnic table from frozen lake

At the March 26 Town Board meeting, Lori Mosher of Riley’s Parade recounted how a picnic table placed in 2024 as a memorial to an infant slipped into an icy lake in early January and was recovered by firefighters, town staff and local volunteers.

Mosher, who introduced herself at the meeting, said the table was a small memorial placed to honor an infant child who died four days before Christmas in 2018. She named multiple people who helped retrieve the bench from the frozen water and said the recovery restored dignity to the memorial. Mosher presented a donation to the fire department and expressed gratitude to individuals including Ben Asarina and a list of volunteers she read aloud.

Supervisor Dwyer and board members thanked the firefighters and town staff for responding and noted the recovery illustrated that first responders provide community service beyond fires and medical emergencies. The board invited the firefighters to remain for the meeting and thanked Mosher for the donation.
