Crescent Springs received a detailed police update April 22 that covered monthly call volumes, enforcement highlights, training and staffing changes.
The police representative reported 1,166 calls for service in March. Department statistics cited 20 traffic collisions in the month (three with injuries), 62 citations issued and an uptick in theft-from-vehicle reports; officers urged residents to lock vehicles to reduce opportunistic thefts.
Detective Lucas is attending a 10-week criminalistics academy to deepen investigatory and evidence-processing skills. The department said it filed paperwork for state accreditation after policy reviews, and most front-line cruisers were outfitted with Axon in-car camera systems.
K9 activity was reported at seven deployments for the month, five of which occurred within Crescent Springs; one deployment ended with apprehension without a bite. Staffing updates included the departure of one officer and the addition of a lateral hire, Adam Watson, who was described as a six-year veteran and former canine handler; Watson is now on patrol following field training.
The department also highlighted community safety events and noted the upcoming Police Officer Memorial in Covington on May 15, with the packet listing Attorney General Russell Coleman as guest speaker.
No formal council action was taken on the report; the presentation served as the monthly update to council.
