The Village of Grafton council on March 17 voted to begin bidding for two resurfacing projects, confirmed two board appointments and handled routine procedural items including payment of bills and reading ordinances by title.
Council authorized the bidding process for Phase III of the Novak Road resurfacing project and for the Cleveland/Barchard Road resurfacing project; both motions passed by voice vote. The council also appointed Dianna Walsh to the Board of Zoning Appeals and Nolan True to the Planning Commission, each by unanimous voice vote.
The police department reported staff had contacted the Lorain County Joint Vocational School to donate an old Ford Taurus to the school's mechanic program; that disposal had been approved and the donation was granted without a separate recorded vote. Chief Clark also reported the village ambulance lacked air conditioning, had no partition between cab and patient area, and exhibited a leaking diesel-line seal; council members asked whether the ambulance could be transferred to Utility.
Other procedural actions recorded at the meeting include postponing approval of minutes until the next meeting and a motion to read ordinances and resolutions by title only. The council entered and later exited executive session and then adjourned.
