St. Bernard Village Council voted unanimously on May 28 to adopt Ordinance No. 27, 2026, authorizing the auditor to transfer $1.5 million from the general fund and to make specified appropriations.
Auditor M. presented the ordinance, saying the $1.5 million transfer includes $800,000 to a master plan cash account, $300,000 to the general bond retirement cash account and $400,000 to the employee health plan cash account. The auditor also detailed requested additional appropriations: $100,000 for tax refunds; $5,000 for Ross Park handrails (funded in part by a check from Roger Bacon mentioned during the report); $800,000 for streets and sewer projects (most expected to be reimbursed by the waterworks); and $13,365 for the second payment on the Langley Avenue street project. The auditor requested a public hearing for the summer tax budget at the June 11 committee‑of‑the‑whole meeting.
Council suspended additional readings and adopted Ordinance No. 27 by recorded vote (six ayes, no nays). The ordinance directs the auditor to execute transfers and appropriations as stated.
