The Goshen Board of Public Works and Safety on May 28 approved two construction change orders affecting street projects in the city.
Public works director Dustin Sailor presented change order No. 7 for the Sturi and Lincoln Avenue reconstruction project to address persistent soil and drainage issues at the Lincoln–Sturi intersection. The work adds drainage piping in a spoke pattern and geogrid to stabilize the intersection and supports turning movements for trucks. The board approved the change order, which increased the contract price by $88,130 and added seven calendar days, moving the projected completion date to Aug. 18, 2026.
Separately, staff presented balancing change order No. 3 for a 2024 paving package that reduced the contract price by $36,716.22. The presenter read a final contract figure at the meeting; the transcript’s numeric formatting of that final amount is unclear and may contain transcription errors. The board approved the balancing change order.
Board members asked whether the added days would affect community events such as the county fair; staff said the fair had already been notified that the August date would not be met.
Both change orders passed unanimously.
