Board approves sibling discount for out-of-county tuition

The Dickson County School Board voted to adopt a sibling-rate structure for out-of-county tuition students, setting $1,600 for the first child and $500 for each additional sibling.

Administration reported 33 out-of-county students currently enrolled and presented the proposed rate change as a way to reduce the financial barrier for families with multiple children attending district schools. Board members clarified the policy's application: siblings must be enrolled concurrently to qualify for the reduced-rate sibling amount, and the board directed administration to produce written policy language with examples (for instance, how grandfathering applies when a senior graduates and a younger sibling remains enrolled).

Mr. Parker made the motion to approve the proposal and the motion carried.
