The Albemarle County Public Schools board on Monday upheld a grievance decision from the superintendent’s office and approved contract addenda that raise annual salaries for two top administrators effective July 1, 2026.
Board members moved the grievance item out of closed session and voted on a motion to uphold the superintendent’s decision. Clerk Christine Thompson conducted a roll-call vote; one member abstained and a majority of voting board members registered yes. Chair Rebecca Berlin announced the motion carried.
After that vote, the board approved two separate contract addenda. Miss Osborne moved to approve an addendum to the superintendent’s employment contract implementing an annual salary increase beginning July 1, 2026; the motion was seconded and carried on a roll-call vote. The board then approved an identical addendum for the chief legal officer’s employment contract following a second roll-call vote. Board members who participated in the recorded roll calls included Dr. Auff, Mr. Beard, Mr. Dylan Beck, Miss Lee, Miss Osborne and Chair Berlin, among others; the clerk called the roll for each action.
The votes followed routine opening business. The meeting opened with roll call, introductions of attending staff and a pledge of allegiance, and the board observed a moment of silence to remember Walker William Fenley, a 2024 Montichello High School graduate.
The board did not provide additional details in the motions about the dollar amounts or the percent increases tied to the addenda; the motions as read approved contract language to implement ‘‘annual salary increases effective July 1, 2026.’’ The board instructed staff to proceed with the administrative steps required by the approved contract language.
The board then moved on to public comment and other agenda items; consent items were approved later in the meeting.
