The Taneytown Planning Commission unanimously recommended that the City Council adopt the 2027–2032 Capital Improvement Program after a staff presentation on May 20.
Staff said the six‑year plan focuses on parks and infrastructure; the main change from the previous program is the removal of a proposed new public‑works facility. "The current council is not supportive of that project moving forward any anymore," a staff presenter said, and staff described an alternative approach of acquiring an existing building to consolidate city operations.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about donated land for park expansion and the scheduling of projects. The plan includes a proposed donation of acreage from Mountain Brook that staff said remains under discussion and could add to Memorial Park. With no substantive objections, a commissioner moved a favorable recommendation and Bill seconded; the motion carried by voice vote.
The recommendation will be recorded to the City Council so that council may consider formal adoption and any required funding decisions.
