Mayor urges University Park residents to file claims in Aqua water settlement by July 6

Mayor Joseph Rudz used the board meeting on May 27 to brief residents about an Aqua water settlement and to explain their legal options and deadlines.

The mayor said residents must submit claim forms by July 6, 2026, if they want to receive settlement payments. He said residents may instead exclude themselves by the same date (which preserves the right to sue separately), object to the settlement in writing by July 6, or attend a fairness hearing on Aug. 24, 2026, to speak about the settlement.

To start the claims process, the mayor read a settlement phone number and the official claims website: 1-877-268-2976 and www.universityparkwatersettlement.com. He advised residents not to wait until the deadline because postal delays could affect postmarks and urged immediate filing.

Village manager Elizabeth Scott and the mayor said the village planned public-service announcements and mailed notices to ensure residents receive claim forms and information. The board directed staff to assist with outreach so residents can complete claims before the deadline.
