Sheboygan County’s Transportation Committee on June 1 awarded two Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) construction contracts to Buteyn‑Peterson Construction Co. Inc. and approved a series of permits and organizational changes.
The committee awarded the LRIP County Road SS Box Culverts project (Melius and Mink Creek structures) to Buteyn‑Peterson Construction Co. Inc. for a single bid of $878,272.31. The award motion was made by Supervisor Vern Koch and seconded by Supervisor Jay Vander Weele; the motion carried.
For the LRIP County Road C project (Sunset Road to Vision Parkway), two bids were opened: LaLonde Contractors, Inc. submitted $202,777.32 and Buteyn‑Peterson Construction Co. Inc. submitted $193,715.00. Supervisor Jon Kuhlow moved and Supervisor Thomas Wegner seconded the motion to award the project to Buteyn‑Peterson; the motion carried.
Committee members also approved a Village of Waldo ATV/UTV permit request following a motion by Supervisor Wegner and second by Supervisor Vander Weele. The committee approved proceeding with equipment repairs rather than purchasing a replacement for Unit 141 after a motion by Supervisor Vander Weele and second by Supervisor Kuhlow.
Event permits on the agenda were approved: the Scenic Shore Bike Tour scheduled for July 25–26, 2026 (motion by Supervisor Wegner; seconded by Vander Weele) and the Holland Festival Run on July 25, 2026 (motion by Supervisor Vander Weele; seconded by Supervisor Vern Koch). All motions carried.
Supervisor Thomas Wegner moved and Supervisor Vander Weele seconded approval of a Table of Organization change for the Transportation/Highway division; the motion carried.
Airport Manager Matt Grenoble provided an update on airport activities and Transportation Director Bryan Olson updated the committee on current Highway Division activities; no formal actions arose from those updates. The committee set its next meeting for Monday, July 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and adjourned at 9:36 a.m.
