DeKalb County Fire Rescue is offering free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to county residents who live in single-family homes or condominiums, host Aviva Hoffman said.
"The free smoke alarm program will install as many smoke alarms as needed in each home," Hoffman said, noting the alarms detect smoke and carbon monoxide and that supplies are subject to availability.
Residents interested in the free alarm installations were instructed to register (the announcement referenced a QR code to start the registration process). Hoffman did not provide target numbers for distribution, an estimated delivery timeline, or the program's funding sources.
DeKalb County Fire Rescue emphasized that eligibility is limited to single-family homes and condominiums and encouraged residents to register promptly because the program is subject to supply constraints.
