Coventry Elementary School was honored by the Ohio Elementary School Association (OESA) as one of 11 Hall of Fame schools during the May 27, 2026 meeting of the Coventry Local Board of Education.
Mr. Savage and guest Mark Jones described the award selection process and praised the school’s culture. “Coventry Elementary School exemplifies the qualities celebrated by the OESA Hall of Fame School Award through its deeply supportive, welcoming, and safe learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered,” the presentation said, and the board applauded the school’s staff and students.
Board members framed the recognition as the result of a multi-stage selection: nominations, blind scoring by administrators statewide, site visits and verification of practices listed in the application. The presenters said the award is select—about 11 winners from roughly 2,500 Ohio schools—and highlighted the school’s community partnerships, data-driven instruction, and supports for student social and academic needs.
Superintendent George thanked the staff and students and noted the award as a team accomplishment. Mark Jones, a representative from the elementary association who presented the citation, said a reception is planned in June when the district will receive the formal award.
The board held the district’s recognition as part of its district updates; no action item was required beyond the public congratulations. The board also noted student participation in the site visit and singled out staff who supported the application process.
