The Berwyn City Council approved its consent agenda and a package of motions that included personnel appointments, a vehicle procurement and major infrastructure contract awards at the May meeting.
Mayor Robert J. Vero and council members concurred with several mayoral and chief recommendations: the council approved the appointments and swearing‑ins of Brian Madden as deputy chief of operations and Robert Pilch as deputy chief of administration for the Berwyn Fire Department, both effective June 2, 2026. The council also accepted communications regarding promotions and swearing‑ins for other fire department personnel.
On procurement, Fire Chief Mahalik recommended waiving sealed bidding and approving purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado from Curry Motors for $47,812; council approved the purchase by roll call. In infrastructure business, Senior Engineer Campbell presented a resolution to enter an intergovernmental agreement with Berwyn North School District 98 for use of the Lincoln Middle School tower; the council approved the agreement.
The council voted to authorize an amendment to the Tyler Technologies payments platform to integrate payment processing tied to the city's utility access implementation; funding for that amendment will come from the city's utility fund, according to staff.
A major infrastructure award was approved: the council concurred with awarding the FY26 lead water service line replacement contracts (L176317, L176318, L176319) to Miller Pipeline LLC for a combined amount of $15,479,650, and approved related pay estimates. Council members approved the recommendation on a roll call.
All listed consent items were adopted as presented and the meeting was adjourned.
