Williamsport City Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Borough of South Williamsport to administer a $3.5 million federal earmark as part of a larger levee/levy repair program that already includes an $8 million award. City officials said combining administration of the awards will streamline the project and leverage the team already working on the $8 million program.
Separately, council voted to authorize filing a Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant application for $250,000 to fund the final payment to Musco for new lights at Bowman Field. The mayor said the poles had been set and the lights were expected to be turned on for testing the following day, and he publicly thanked Musco and staff for expediting the installation ahead of an upcoming MLB Classic event.
Council approved both items unanimously. Staff noted South Williamsport’s council had already signed the intergovernmental agreement and that the levee project administration will proceed with combined contracting and grant management. The grant application will designate the mayor and the applicant contact as authorized signers.
