Crescent Springs schedules medical cannabis zoning discussion, proposes upgrade to meeting video system

City Administrator Mr. Dy told the council he is trying to schedule Planning and Development Services for the June 24 meeting to present maps and draft text‑amendment language related to medical cannabis and to provide a sample ordinance that would prohibit medical cannabis businesses if the council prefers that approach.

Mr. Dy said the Planning and Development Services staff will present zoning maps, suggested text changes and an overview of which zones would permit medical cannabis businesses if the council chooses to allow them. The presentation will also include a sample ordinance for prohibiting those businesses, in case the council prefers prohibition in some zones.

Separately, staff presented two options for meeting video production: a wired camera installation and a wireless alternative. Initial on‑site measurements and cabling were estimated at roughly $450 for cable runs; cameras were described as about $600 each, with an all‑in figure discussed in the meeting of roughly $1,500 for the basic wired setup. One council member moved to proceed with the mounted wired cameras and to include the expense in the current year’s budget if feasible.

Mayor D and staff apologized for the lack of live video for this special meeting and said they would avoid recurring outages by moving forward with one of the vendor proposals and scheduling the installation.
