Students from Raices del Saber Elementary School spent a day inside Doña Ana County offices, taking part in interactive stations that showed how local government communicates with residents and keeps neighborhoods clean. The program paired students with county communications staff and codes enforcement officers so they could try roles such as public information officer, social media manager and illegal-dumping cleanup crew member.
The experience included hands-on workstations that demonstrated how the county shares public information, investigates and cleans up illegal dumping, and coordinates community services. Students were also introduced to county leadership: the narration reports they met the chairman of the board of county commissioners, the county manager and other county leaders, giving them a first-hand look at local government functions.
Organizers described the day as a fun and educational program designed to inspire the next generation of community leaders and to give young residents practical experience with civic roles. The visit illustrates a local public-engagement effort to teach students about government operations and neighborhood stewardship.
