At its March 23 meeting, the Lakota Local Board of Education approved a package of administrative and procurement items including board‑approved job descriptions for all district positions, orders for new science textbooks, selected alternates and base bid for district pavement rehabilitation, contract approvals, and routine fiscal motions including adoption of amounts and rates determined by the Budget Commission for tax‑levy certification.
"I want to commend our HR team," Superintendent Doctor Whiteley told the board. "This is really a milestone, to say that every job description that we have has been touched and looked at and revised." He said the next step would be to ensure each employee receives and signs the updated job description and that substantially revised job descriptions would return to the board for reapproval.
The board voted by roll call to approve the Treasurer's recommendations (minutes, monthlies and certification of amounts and rates to the county auditor) and later approved the superintendent's recommendations on personnel items, job descriptions, new science textbooks (curriculum team on display at Central Office), base bids and selected alternates for pavement work from Cincinnati Asphalt Incorporated, contract approvals and 2026‑27 Ohio High School Athletic Association membership.
Several board members praised the HR team and curriculum staff; questions at the meeting focused on implementation logistics (filing job descriptions in personnel files, ordering textbook shipments before summer). All listed approvals were taken as motions with a second and approved by roll call.
Votes at a glance:
- Agenda approval: motion passed by roll call (board present voted yes).
- Treasurer recommendations A–C (financials, minutes, tax‑levy certification): motion passed by roll call.
- Superintendent recommendations (personnel, job descriptions, science textbooks, selected pavement bids/alternates, contracts, OHSAA membership, field trip and donations): motion passed by roll call.
The board did not attach dollar amounts for every contract in the public motion text on the record; bid and contract details are on file with the Treasurer's office and procurement staff.
The meeting proceeded to regular closing business after the approvals.
