The Lakota Local Board of Education used its March 23 meeting to preview facilities planning work ahead of any possible ballot measure and to flag a third‑party, statistically relevant community survey that will deliver results after April 3.
"People talk about when will we see occupancy?" a board member asked during the facilities preview as the administration framed how subtle timeline shifts (for example a six‑month change) would affect ballot timing and construction occupancy. The board scheduled a Facilities Committee meeting for the following day to continue discussion of timelines, ballot language, resolutions and procurement methods including construction managers at risk.
Administration clarified that the survey being distributed to Butler County residents is not commissioned or paid for by Lakota Local Schools, but that district staff will be able to review the data. The survey will be delivered digitally (text or email) and is designed to capture public sentiment on possible ballot pieces and facility programming options.
Board members noted programing and cost choices could influence timelines and ballot placement, and that any vote timing (for example November ballots) has downstream impacts on occupancy and construction scheduling. The Facilities Committee will examine options, costs and dependencies and return recommendations to the full board.
No formal vote on a bond or ballot language occurred at the meeting; discussion was preparatory and procedural.
