Acting City Manager Nathan McKenna told the council the city received five quotes for financing a new pumper truck expected to be completed by the beginning of June and recommended accepting the low bid from Banterra, which offered 3.95% for both five- and seven-year terms.
Council Member Mike Young moved to approve the financing; Council Member Donte Moore seconded. The recorded vote was Yeas: Moore, Young and Mayor John Lewis; Council Member Joe Gliosci abstained; Council Member Ray Botch was absent. The motion carried.
McKenna also asked the council to waive bidding and approve purchase of replacement emergency reporting software for the Fire Department, saying the current system no longer complies with federal requirements. The city budgeted $30,000 for the purchase. Chief Yenne and Assistant Chief Jennings were present to answer questions. Council Member Joe Gliosci moved to waive bidding and purchase the software; Council Member Donte Moore seconded and the measure passed on a 4-0 recorded vote (Botch absent).
The new pumper is expected to arrive in early June; the financing structure and the software procurement will be implemented by the Fire Department and Finance staff.
