The Osceola County Board of Supervisors reviewed several administrative and fiscal housekeeping items, including drainage district fund balances, routine vendor and contract approvals, and claims for payment.
Clerk/staff reported drainage district Joint 11 was in the red by about $15,004.85; board members discussed setting a minimum fund-balance threshold (suggestions ranged from roughly $17,000 to $20,000) and directed staff to return with a resolution and order for approval. The board also noted assessments may be subject to a $5 minimum per parcel, which can affect final totals.
On contracts, staff presented renewal of a cost-advisory services agreement (annual fee cited at about $44,250). The county said the vendor helps secure Department of Human Services (DHS) reimbursements and estimated recurring returns of roughly $9,000; the board approved renewing the contract for the next three years with the fee unchanged.
The board considered and approved a vendor-approval process for recurring vendors and routine services (one member abstained on that vote). Members then moved and carried approval of claims; staff noted jail remodeling costs were being charged to the general basic fund consistent with the existing budget allocation.
Board members also discussed the status of an employee referred to as 'Sandy.' Members agreed to speak with Sandy directly about her intentions and to consider whether to advertise the position or convert it to full time; the item will be placed on a future agenda for follow up.
The board scheduled follow-ups: staff will return with drainage-district resolutions and with vendor/contract documentation as requested.
