The Hampshire County Commission voted to lay the county's proposed property tax levies as presented and directed the clerk to deliver the signed paperwork to the auditor's office.
The clerk presented the proposed rates and revenue estimate, saying the proposal would set class 1 property at 14.03 cents per $100 of assessed value, class 2 at 28.06 cents, and class 3 and class 4 at 56.12 cents per $100. For the library levy the clerk said the proposed rate is 0.65 cents per $100 for class 1, with class 2 at 1.3 cents and classes 3 and 4 at 2.6 cents per $100. The clerk also clarified that a newly passed fire levy will not take effect until next year and that this year's fire levy remains unchanged.
The clerk acknowledged a prior filing error to the auditor's office, stating, "Our error... That's been corrected," and said the corrected levy package is what the commission was considering. The clerk reported the proposed gross amount would be $6,000,291,371; the transcript also contains a conflicting rendering of that figure, which the county should confirm in the official record.
A commissioner moved that the commission "lay the levy as proposed, by Mr. Clerk Scribe for the upcoming fiscal year." Another commissioner seconded the motion. Commissioners vocalized "aye," and the presiding official announced the motion passed. After the vote the clerk said he would sign the documents and get them to the auditor's office the same day.
The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn was moved, seconded and approved.
