The Northfield Development Review Board on May 28 deferred consideration of a conditional-use application from Amelia Cervantes after the applicant failed to appear.
Chair (Speaker 1) told the board that Cervantes had applied to seasonally host weddings and other events at 202 Rich Robinson Road, including temporary tents. With the applicant and other participants not present and with persistent display and remote-connection problems, the board decided it could not take substantive testimony or make an informed decision.
"So I guess we're not having an advocate we need to I guess we need to table this," the Chair said. Staff (Speaker 2) said the application packet was available and that an extra copy had been circulated for the board to review.
The board agreed to table the application to the next regular meeting; staff noted the DRB's next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. The Chair said the board would expect the applicant to attend or supply any missing materials in advance so the DRB can proceed.
The board did not take a substantive vote on the merits of the conditional-use request while the application remained incomplete and the applicant absent. The tabling was procedural, allowing the applicant an opportunity to appear with information for the board to review.
What happens next: the application will be placed on the DRB agenda for June 25; staff said they would follow up with the applicant and circulate any updated materials before that meeting.
