House adopts adjournment resolution and hears brief remarks from the governor

The House agreed in concurrence to JRS56, the joint resolution setting final adjournment for May 2026, directed the clerk to notify the Senate, and appointed a six‑member committee to inform the governor that the House had completed its business.

During final floor time, multiple members and leaders delivered extended farewell and thank‑you remarks to staff, colleagues and constituents. A committee presented the governor to the well of the House; the governor thanked the speaker and members, recognized long‑serving representatives, urged continued attention to affordability, public safety and education, and expressed optimism about Vermont’s civic institutions.

Following leadership remarks and the governor’s address, the House adopted a motion to adjourn pursuant to JRS56 and the body stood adjourned until the 2026 session.
