The Portage County Board of Commissioners approved a batch of routine and programmatic actions during its May 21 meeting.
Key approvals included signing three subordinations of mortgage for a property in Ravenna as recommended by Neighborhood Development Services; authorizing the county auditor to process bills, ACH payments, wires and journal vouchers contingent on record verification; processing budget amendments; and a fund transfer from the WIA fund to the public assistance fund. The board also approved filing grant applications to the Ohio Department of Transportation (Office of Aviation) for airport improvement funds and accepted a separate grant award from the Ohio Secretary of State to support electronic poll books for the Portage County Board of Elections.
The board voted to add one seized/forfeited vehicle to the county fleet for the sheriff’s office and approved several professional-services agreements (bridge inspection and other inspection/consulting contracts) and program agreements, including a service agreement between Job & Family Services and Access Family Services for transitional recovery case management. Commissioners reappointed two members to the Portage County Public Defender Commission and accepted donations for the dog warden office.
The board also approved an increase in kennel and impounding fees for the Portage County dog warden’s office, with adjustments to adoption fees to take effect Monday, June 1, 2026. Several administrative acknowledgements and certifications (auditor certificate, RLF balance sheet receipt) were recorded.
