Brad Chip was elected chair of the Monomoy Regional School Committee on Thursday during the district’s annual reorganization meeting, and Ryan Edwards was chosen as vice chair.
The superintendent opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and explained that, under the regional agreement, the chair role alternates between Chatham and Harwich. Mister Duvall nominated Brad Chip for chair; the nomination was seconded and approved unanimously by voice vote. The committee then opened nominations for vice chair, received a nomination of Ryan Edwards and approved it by voice vote.
After the officer elections, the committee heard short introductions from several new members. Richard Roy said he grew up on Cape Cod, has served on the Monomoy regional building committee and is an assistant chief with the Massachusetts Port Authority fire department. Katie Cutter described long ties to the district, service as a PTO president and experience on hiring and playground committees. Heather Morgan said she is a second‑grade teacher and that one of her children serves as the student representative. The superintendent welcomed the newcomers and reviewed meeting expectations and subcommittee participation.
The newly elected leaders will preside over regular business including subcommittee assignments and upcoming negotiations. The committee confirmed its typical meeting cadence (two Thursdays per month at 6:30 p.m.) and noted a likely joint meeting with the Chatham and Harwich select boards to discuss the regional agreement and related funding.
The meeting closed routine reorganization items and moved to the remainder of the agenda.
