The Hopkinton School Committee voted May 28 to approve travel for 12 Hopkinton high‑school students who qualified to represent the district at the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis from June 17–21, 2026.
Superintendent (speaker 1) introduced sophomores Akshara Gantasala and Ishana Kurana, who said HOSA is a club for students interested in health careers and described their qualifying events. Akshara said the team qualified first in the community‑awareness event at the state level with a portfolio about endometriosis and will present that work at nationals. Ishana said she competed in behavioral health and community awareness and highlighted opportunities for networking and professional workshops at the conference.
Committee member Jamie Ramez (speaker 7) moved to approve the request; the motion was approved by voice vote. The superintendent thanked the students and their teacher, Miss Piller, and congratulated the club for its rapid growth and competitive results.
Ending: The committee approved the travel authorization and praised the students’ accomplishments; no additional funding decisions were recorded beyond the travel authorization at the meeting.
