Ben, a transportation staff member, told the Salt Lake West Valley Area Technical Advisory Committee on May 27 that the draft Transportation Improvement Program will be released for public review in the latter part of June and remain open through the first part of August.
The draft combines locally recommended projects with UDOT and UTA projects. Ben said TransCom approved recommended projects at its April meeting and those recommendations will go to the regional council at its meeting tomorrow. He summarized the Surface Transportation Program (STP) recommendations as 11 Salt Lake-area projects totaling just under $25 million and seven Ogden-Layton-area projects totaling about $17.8 million.
Ben also summarized other program recommendations in the packet: the CMAC round included three Ogden-Layton projects (~$5 million) and six Salt Lake-area projects (~$9.6 million); the Carbon Reduction program saw two Ogden-Layton projects (~$1.3 million) and four Salt Lake-area projects; and TAP (Transportation Alternatives Program) recommendations included three Ogden-Layton projects (~$1.3 million) and three Salt Lake-area projects (~$2.4 million).
"We would encourage you to encourage your friends, your neighbors, those you work with, take a night and share them with your family," Ben said, urging TAC members to circulate the draft packet and invite public comment.
Staff said they will send TAC members a link or packet so members can review details online and flagged the conformity determination that will accompany the draft for public comment. The regional council's decision after the public-comment period will determine which projects move into the final TIP.
