Court allows final accountings in Tiny Toons conservatorship, gives conservator until June 30 to transfer assets

The Lenawee County Probate & Juvenile Court allowed the fifth, sixth and final accountings in the Tiny Toons conservatorship matter and directed the conservator to transfer remaining assets into the probate estate of Tommy Lee Turpening by June 30.

Ariel Berger, the guardian ad litem for the conservatorship, filed a waiver and stated she had no objections. Christie Brusseau, joining by phone and identified as the conservator, affirmed the accountings were truthful, accurate and complete. Family members Kimberly Dowell, Shari Chamberlain and Tammy Manders answered on speaker that they had received notice and had no objections.

On the record, Brusseau said the conservatorship still held a bank account that needed to be opened or accessed and that her sisters were assisting. The judge set a deadline of June 30 for proof that assets had been transferred out of conservatorship and into the probate estate and said the clerk’s office could provide certified copies of letters of authority if needed to access accounts.

Family members raised an issue about a pension check and survivor benefits that had been deposited and difficulty accessing the account. The judge advised the conservator to provide certified letters of authority to the bank or consult an attorney if problems persisted.

The court signed the order allowing the accountings and closed the matter for the day.
