The council read proclamations honoring the Valley Mirror newspaper and the Community College of Allegheny County’s inaugural culinary entrepreneurship innovation showcase during the May 26 meeting.
Council Member Aaron Adams presented a proclamation recognizing the Valley Mirror’s four-decade history serving Mon Valley communities and its final edition on April 30, 2026. Representatives of the paper accepted the honor and briefly thanked the council.
Council Member Madonna Emerling presented a proclamation recognizing CCAC’s first culinary entrepreneurship innovation showcase and its student winners, noting that the program pairs culinary students with business students to develop restaurant concepts and business plans. CCAC faculty and administrators described the event as a workforce-oriented, cross-disciplinary learning experience and thanked the council for the recognition.
Other proclamations were read into the record acknowledging individual service and community events; one proclamation was held due to a scheduling conflict.
