At its May 26 meeting the Berlin council approved multiple special-event requests and, for one nonprofit event, granted a fee waiver.
Motion 2026-24 approved a community walk planned for Henry Park on July 11, 2026. Brianna How introduced the event, saying it will honor her daughter: “Hi, my name is Brianna How. This is my mother Brenda Harris. We’re doing a community walk in honor of my daughter Bana Holly.” The council raised no objections and recorded a unanimous vote with Council member Nichols absent.
Motion 2026-25 approved a Mumford Tingle family reunion at Caterp on July 25, 2026. Organizer Shita Posley asked to allow a volleyball net and a tent for weather; staff said temporary structures are permitted if removed the same day. The council approved the request unanimously with Nichols absent.
Motion 2026-26 approved two nonprofit events scheduled for Aug. 15–16 — a college/workforce/resource fair and a wellness extravaganza — and granted the requested waiver of fees for the nonprofit organizer. Organizers said the events are intended to connect residents with higher-education and workforce resources and to provide wellness programming; staff recommended approval for the nonprofit status. The council approved the waiver and motion unanimously with Nichols absent.
All event approvals included a public-comment period and standard staff review for temporary structures, safety and cleanup requirements.
