Wetzel County Board adopts 2026–27 school budget after public hearing

The Wetzel County Schools Board of Education held a public hearing on the proposed 2026–27 budget and then voted to adopt the budget as published.

During the hearing staff stated the published proposal had already been reviewed and that no changes were suggested at the meeting. The superintendent recommended adoption of the budget as submitted. A board member moved for adoption, a second was given, and the motion passed by voice vote.

In the superintendent’s campus update, district staff said geotechnical information shows no blasting will be required for the new campus and that most on‑site materials can be reused, a development the superintendent described as reducing cost and schedule risk. The superintendent also provided a snapshot of the class of 2026, reporting scholarship totals for Magnolia High School of $640,000 to date and noting graduation and college‑going figures for both Magnolia and Valley high schools.
