The Riverbank City Council on May 20 approved routine consent items, heard community announcements and reported closed-session outcomes.
The council moved to approve consent-calendar items 9.1 through 9.7 and items 9.9 and 9.10; a roll-call vote recorded five "yes" votes and the motion passed 5-0 as recorded. Council then pulled item 9.8 for separate consideration; a motion to approve item 9.8 passed on a roll-call recorded in the transcript as four "yes" votes (Council member Odiva/Obe, Council member FSY, Vice Mayor Pimementel and Mayor Hernandez).
During public comment, Mr. Francisco, speaking for the Chamber, listed upcoming community events including a ribbon-cutting for Riverbank Tractor Supply on Patterson Road (May 30), two food-truck business workshops on June 3-4 (English and Spanish sessions), the Chamber meeting on June 3, and other fundraising events through June. "On June 3rd and June 4th, we'll be having a workshop on how to start a food truck business and be paperwork ready for the county," he told the council.
Darlene Barbara Martinez promoted the annual bike rodeo scheduled for June 10 at Riverbank Plaza Del Rio (5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), saying bike registration will be available with Stanislaus County and that activities will focus on bike safety for children ages 12 and under. "We want to make sure that kids are safe on their bikes for the rest of the summer," she said.
Parks and Recreation staff announced summer offerings including a season finale for Food Court Fridays at the sports complex, a Movies in the Park series (Zootopia 2 at dusk), and a Tuesday market starting June 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Oakdale Animal Shelter will bring pets available for adoption at these events.
The council then adjourned to closed session under Government Code Section 54956.9 to discuss two pending litigations. After reconvening, the council reported a unanimous decision to settle the case listed as Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies LLC v. City of Riverbank (Stanislaus County Superior Court CV230004578) and that direction was given to staff on the case listed as Miller Arms Company, Inc. v. City of Riverbank (Stanislaus County Superior Court CV23002593). The next regular council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9.
