Board confirms slate of assistant principal appointments, approves athletic director

After returning from executive session, the Rock Hill Schools Board of Trustees approved a series of superintendent recommendations to fill assistant principal positions at multiple elementary, middle and high schools and confirmed the district's selection for an athletic director.

Trustees moved and seconded a sequence of appointments presented by the superintendent. Votes on individual recommendations were recorded as passed, typically 7‑0; one appointment was carried 6‑0 with Dr. Belton recusing himself, as noted by the chair.

Motions listed and approved by the board included assistant principal appointments for Cherry Park Elementary (Immersion), Independence Elementary, India Hook Elementary, Northside Elementary, Sunset Park Elementary (recusal noted for one vote), York Road Elementary, Castle Heights, Dutchman Creek Middle School, Sullivan Middle School, Northwestern High School, Rock Hill High School (multiple assistant principals), and South Pointe High School. The board also approved the superintendent's recommendation for athletic director of Northwestern High School.

Each appointment was moved, seconded and approved during the open session following executive session. Administration said these recommendations resulted from its hiring process and are intended to be implemented for the upcoming school year.

The board recorded 14 motions in total for personnel items during the meeting; trustees did not request additional public discussion of individual hires during the session.
