Yamhill County commissioners on May 28 voted to uphold the planning director’s approval of a principal dwelling provided in conjunction with farm use in docket FD‑01‑26, a decision continued from May 21. County planning staff reviewed the governing 1994 standards for what constitutes a dwelling customarily provided in conjunction with farm use and concluded the applicants had submitted sufficient evidence, including demonstration of farm income requirements and absence of other dwellings on the parcel required by the test.
During deliberations, commissioners reviewed supplemental documentation submitted by the appellant and discussed procedural questions including a documented fire‑department driveway approval provided by the applicant. Staff explained the application was processed as a Type A and that the applicant had included the agency’s approval in the record. Commissioners concluded the additional materials did not change the legal criteria for the decision and moved to uphold the director’s approval. The motion passed unanimously; the board scheduled written findings to be issued in three weeks.
