"Anything over 10 days but less than 60 would be granted an additional 20 days for assigned planning and grading responsibilities," a presenter explained, characterizing the change as a way to treat medium‑length assignments equitably and avoid overburdening current staff.

Board members discussed market competitiveness, the role of retirees who frequently sub, and whether the district should use outside agencies versus internal substitutes. Administrators said the proposal remains cost‑sensitive and aims to keep the district near regional pay averages while acknowledging recruitment pressures.
