Mobile County announces two director appointments, moves to executive session for economic development and real property

The Mobile County Commission used the end of its regular agenda to introduce two recent appointments and to vote to enter an executive session.

The chair introduced Cody Scott as the newly appointed finance director and Tim Smith as the newly appointed human resources director; commissioners congratulated both appointees. No salary or contract details were discussed on the record during the introductions.

The chair then asked the commission to consider an executive session to discuss several matters, specifying economic development and potential buying, selling or leasing of real property as the subjects and certifying that those topics fall within the Alabama Open Meetings Act exemptions. The commission recessed to hold an indigent care board meeting and later took a roll-call vote to enter the executive session; the chair stated there was no anticipated need to reconvene the public meeting to take any votes following the executive session.

During the indigent care board meeting, members approved minutes, accepted an indigent care fund balance report showing $129,811.83 available as of April 30 and adjourned. The commission then moved into the executive conference for the previously certified executive session.
