Boyle County Fiscal Court approved multiple measures May 26 to support emergency medical services staffing and training.
EMS Director Rogers and Jessica Wingington asked court approval to apply for two grants. The first is a "Partnership for Success" award of $50,000 (no match) to fund community education, advertise EMS availability and support staff training. The second is a Rural Health Transformation grant seeking up to $650,000 (no match) to continue funding the crisis response unit beyond July 2027, add two full‑time community paramedics and purchase apparatus.
Both grant applications were authorized by the court.
Separately, the court approved a contract with the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education to support paramedic training. The example presented covered three students at a total cost of $21,000; the state matches half ($10,500) under the program, reducing local net cost.
Magistrates praised the department’s work; staff noted recent heavy call volumes, including a 31‑run day, and stressed the operational need to retain and train personnel. The court asked staff to return with documents for signature when grant applications are ready.
Next steps: staff will submit the grant applications, return with signature packets when awards are confirmed, and proceed with the state‑matched paramedic training contract.
