Jennifer Randall of the Onslow County Public Library's Youth Services team previewed several spring and summer programs, including a family-oriented Comic Book Fest, a local-author visit and the library's summer-reading lineup.
Randall said Comic Book Fest will run May 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with comic vendors, cosplay and activities for attendees. The library will host author Christy Woodson Harvey at 1 p.m. at the Sneads Ferry branch the same day.
The library's summer-reading theme is "unearth a story," Randall said, and the system will hold a storytelling festival on June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main library featuring three storytellers, reenactors, community partners and food trucks.
Summer reading officially begins June 1; children earn points for minutes read and adults receive 100 points per book with prizes available. Randall also listed sponsors and said full event listings are on the library website and that callers may reach the library at 910-455-7350 for branch-specific details.
