The Portland Public Schools board on Tuesday approved Resolution 7306, a one‑year collective bargaining agreement with the Portland Association of Teachers (PAT) that includes a 2% salary increase beginning in the pay period that includes Jan. 1, 2027.
Chief Freeman, a district bargaining leader, described the agreement as the product of "many months of listening, advocating, spirited exchanges of ideas and collective genius" between educators and administrators. "We are able to agree to a 2% salary increase beginning the pay period that includes January 1st, 2627 school year," she said.
Nut graf: Board members thanked both bargaining teams for reaching agreement ahead of the budget vote. PAT leaders said the contract was imperfect but a foundation for future work; district officials said negotiations will resume in January using the newly elected PAT bargaining team structure.
Angela Boniga, PAT president, and other union representatives spoke at public comment and at the dais about classroom staffing and implementation priorities. After a short public‑comment period and some board reflections, directors moved, seconded and unanimously approved Resolution 7306.
Ending: The board recorded the vote as unanimous; staff said collective bargaining will continue next year with a renewed bargaining calendar and joint commitments to continued conversation between the district and the union.
