Staff summarized outreach to local seniors and proposed near-term programming under a new name, "Prime Time Seniors," and announced a May 1 Senior Health & Wellness Expo at the Unity Center.
Laura reported that 30 seniors attended an in-person coffee chat and 26 responded to an online survey. Exercise classes (walking groups, strength training), arts and crafts, technology assistance and social outings ranked highest in resident interest. "We've named our senior program The Prime Time seniors," Laura said, and staff listed a calendar of introductory activities (chair yoga, watercoloring and a social Bingo program) while noting the need for additional budget and staff time to expand the program beyond pilot offerings.
Staff asked the commission to include senior programming in the work plan and return with budget options; commissioners supported bringing a fuller work plan back at a future meeting.
