A representative read a statement from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office reporting that investigators identified six individuals in a series of car burglaries that affected multiple communities overnight on May 20 and 21.
The announcement named one adult, 18-year-old Colin Brainbridge of Carroll, and five juveniles; the juveniles were referred to juvenile detention pending further proceedings. Law enforcement executed search warrants at three residences and one vehicle and seized several cell phones and numerous items linked to the burglaries. Two firearms were also recovered; one firearm has been returned to a rifle owner and investigators continued work to identify the owner of the other firearm.
The statement said many items have been returned to owners and the investigation is ongoing as officers sort unclaimed property and compile evidence. The sheriff's office thanked assisting agencies and members of the public for help and asked anyone with information to call 712-792-4393.
After the announcement supervisors praised deputies for the rapid multi-county response and asked clarifying questions about how suspects were identified; the office said early traffic stops and public video tips helped investigators move quickly to arrests within about 48 hours.
