The Missoula County Public Schools board carried several routine organizational items on June 2.
The board declared High School Trustee District D vacant after no candidate filed. Trustees set a public notice and application timeline with a June 18 deadline and interviews scheduled for June 23, when the board will appoint a trustee to serve until the next regular election. Newly appointed trustees (Jeffrey Agaras, Denise Juno, London Missy and Leslie McShane) received certificates of election and took the oath of office administered by Denise Williams.
During the annual reorganization, trustees elected Walker Andrews as board chairperson by acclamation and selected vice chairs (Jeffrey Agaras for elementary and Jenny Walsh for secondary) and reappointed Denise Williams as clerk for 2026–2027. The board also confirmed delegates to the Montana School Boards Association.
On governance matters the board approved revisions to Policy 1401 (records available to the public — fee clarification) and Policy 5450 (artificial intelligence use). Trustees asked staff to add a brief header to the new AI paragraph for clarity. The board also approved the elementary and high‑school personnel reports as presented, with a note that one previously listed non‑renewal (Allison Smith) had accepted a position and was removed from the termination list.
These items were decided by majority (in practice acclamation or unanimous voice votes) during the meeting’s routine business portion.
