Councilman Sheckles moved to approve a $7,500 community grant for the Nelson County Community Clinic; Councilman Hibbs seconded and the motion carried 5-0. The minutes show the council approved cemetery deeds for Gary Drury and Amy Blanton by unanimous consent.
City Electrical Engineer Eric Richter reviewed minutes from the July 9 Electric and Cable Committee meeting. Fire Chief Todd Spalding reported an increase in calls over the past year and said he is drafting bid specifications for a new fire engine. Assistant Police Chief Joe Seelye reported that "Olivia and Maverick continue to do good things for the department." Mayor J. Richard Heaton provided an update on discussions with Luckett and Farley representatives about an indoor sports complex and said the existing outdoor pool will remain open during construction.

Williams moved to enter an executive session at 6:37 PM under KRS 61.810(1)(b) to deliberate on the acquisition or sale of real property; Councilman Franklin Hibbs seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
