Council members seek clarifications on consent items; Donaldson requests out-of-state travel

During the agenda planner review, Councilmember Donaldson asked staff to clarify several items on the June 9 consent calendar, including a zone change affecting 203 acres in part of Ute Valley Park and a rezoning of a 5.25-acre parcel near UCCS at 4625 Stanton Road to public facilities. Kevin Walker, identified in the meeting as planning director, said he was “95% certain” the Ute Valley Park parcel is city-owned and that the Stanton Road parcel had been purchased with existing zoning in place; he pledged to confirm ownership and return that clarification to the council.

Donaldson also asked about an annexation scheduled for July 14 (PTAA Addition No. 1), a 14-acre area on Mark Sheffel Road. Walker said the annexation had already been considered previously by the council and that the current item is a housekeeping correction following an ownership modification.

On item 10A, the clerk read an authorization for out-of-state travel. Councilmember Donaldson said he would like to participate in a Chamber of Commerce trip to Huntsville, Alabama, to learn about business and military programs. The presiding officer asked for a show of thumbs up; the council indicated support. The meeting record does not show a formal roll-call vote on the travel authorization in the work session notes.
