Prince George County supervisors adopted the FY2027 all‑funds budget totaling $177,911,588 after a public hearing and staff presentation.
Finance staff highlighted no material changes in total general fund revenues from the May 12 presentation and described a 1‑cent real‑estate tax reduction that reduces annual property tax bills by roughly $34 to $50 for the average homeowner. The adopted budget also included a reclassification that removes one sworn police officer position and adds a deputy IT director position focused on public safety; staff estimated the FY27 net impact of that change at approximately $32,089 due to timing and the start date of Sept. 1.
During discussion board members asked for clarifications on department-level impacts, whether the previously discussed utility debt issuance would affect the budget (staff said it would not), and the potential need for future amendments if state school funding changes. The board approved the FY2027 budget on a roll‑call vote.
Staff noted that the schools’ budget could change after the state adopts its budget; any significant change above a threshold would require a separate public hearing.
