Beaufort County’s news segment featured Hilton Head Island High School Navy JROTC cadets taking part in a leadership challenge course intended to build discipline, teamwork and trust.
One cadet said, "I think the point of this exercise was just to, you know, trust each other, you know, rely on each other, and most importantly, you know, have that bond to keep pushing forward." Other cadets described activities that emphasized communication and shared problem-solving: "My favorite activity was the tennis racket... It helps us with communication... Without any communication, you won't, like, solve the problem," one cadet said. Another cadet called the group push-up exercise "pretty fun" and said everyone had to work together.
The broadcast directed viewers to a longer leadership challenge course video on the county TV YouTube channel. The segment did not identify individual cadets by name in the audio.
