Priceville council approves annexation of 1325 Shoal Creek Road and clears LWCF park grant wording

Priceville Town Council voted unanimously to annex a 52-acre parcel at 1325 Shoal Creek Road and approved revised wording requested by the National Park Service for a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant application for a park project.

The council suspended the rules to consider Ordinance 202609, described by staff as affecting a 12-acre tract abutting Shoal Creek plus a 40-acre section behind it, for a combined 52 acres at 1325 Shoal Creek Road. After a motion and a second, the ordinance passed on a roll-call vote with all members recorded in favor. The council then asked staff to send an annexation letter so the parcel can be made contiguous and eligible to annex into the town.

The council also approved Resolution 2026-05 to adjust language and the funding breakdown in the city’s LWCF submission. According to staff, the National Park Service requested changes to the grant wording; the revision does not alter the city’s prior approvals and, if the NPS signs off, the project could receive up to $1,000,000 in LWCF funds. The resolution passed unanimously on a roll-call vote.

The annexation was identified on the agenda as Ordinance 202609; the LWCF action appeared as Resolution 2026-05. Both measures were presented by the meeting moderator and carried without recorded opposition.

Next steps: staff is to transmit the annexation correspondence and proceed with required filing steps for the ordinance; the LWCF funding remains contingent on National Park Service approval of the revised language and final grant paperwork.
