House concurs in Senate amendment to require subsidence reporting, repairs and emergency rules for damaged land

The House agreed to a Senate amendment to House File 2765 that would strengthen regulation around land damaged by subsidence.

Representative Warren outlined three main requirements in the amendment: mandatory reporting of subsidence events to create a clear record; establishment of standards and requirements for repair; and a requirement that repairs be planned and completed within a defined reasonable timeframe. The amendment also directs the responsible agency to adopt emergency rules within 60 business days to allow immediate effect.

Members described the amendment as a straightforward mechanism to ensure subsidence events are tracked and repaired; the amendment was adopted and the bill was read for final passage. The recorded vote on final passage showed 86 ayes, 0 nays and 14 absent or not voting. The title was agreed to.
