Entergy‑backed LED retrofit proposed for county building; estimated county cost $1,700

A representative of an energy efficiency program presented an LED retrofit proposal for an Adams County building that would replace interior fixtures and selected exterior lights, estimating a total project cost just under $8,700 and an Entergy incentive of roughly $6,900 that would leave the county with a net invoice of about $1,700.

The presenter said the program would inventory fixtures, recommend LED replacements and installation materials, and apply an 80% incentive after project completion so the county would receive a net invoice for the reduced amount. He noted some exterior fixtures may be excluded or require a lengthy review if the building is listed on the register of historic places: "Being on the register of historic places, the alteration of the exterior is either prohibited or you have to go through a pretty lengthy process," the presenter said.

Supervisors and staff discussed the county’s previous in‑house LED work, ballast removal versus retrofit options, and program eligibility rules. Staff said prior energy‑saving work typically receives credit when assessing a building’s eligibility, and that the county had previously looked into similar programs and may have signed up for incentives in the past.

No formal contract was executed at the meeting; staff were asked to follow up with procurement, to review sample fixtures brought by vendors and to coordinate any historic‑preservation consultations where exterior changes might be proposed.
