ARB pre-approves porch change at 445 Alma Avenue

The Webster Groves Architecture Review Board took a pre-approval vote on work at 445 Alma Avenue, approving the applicant’s proposal as submitted.

In the work session, board members noted the project had originally been administratively approved with railings but that the applicant now sought to remove them. Members discussed the look of the porch without railings, expressing concern that exposed post holders would make the porch appear unfinished, and said they had no record in the file of what was previously approved. During the regular meeting a motion to pre-approve 445 Alma passed by voice vote with four members in favor and one opposed.

The board recorded the pre‑approval; no additional conditions were attached in the meeting record. The applicant present was released to leave after the vote and the board proceeded to consider other projects.
